Former chairman of China Everbright under investigation for law violations

Li Xiaopeng, former chairman of China Everbright Group Ltd, a State-owned financial conglomerate in China, is being investigated by the country's top anti-corruption watchdog for alleged serious violations of discipline and law.

The Central Commission of Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, the top anti-graft authority, disclosed the investigation on the official website on Wednesday.

No more details have been released so far.

Public information show that Li, 63, graduated from finance school at Wuhan University. He had worked for China's bank and financial system for many years, serving multiple posts in this regard, including deputy head of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and chief supervisor of the China Investment Corporation.

He became the chairman of the Everbright Group in late 2017 and retried last year.
