China opposes the recent unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States on a number of Chinese companies under the pretext of alleged involvement with Russia, said a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce.

The US' moves have no basis in international law or authorization from the United Nations Security Council, the ministry added in an online statement.

These actions seriously harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and affect the security and stability of the global supply and industrial chains, according to the commerce ministry.

China urges the US to immediately correct its wrongdoings and stop its irrational suppression of Chinese companies. China will resolutely defend the legitimate rights and interests of its companies, said the spokesperson.
