An optics themed exhibition aimed at the youth recently kicked off at the Beijing Science Center, inviting primary school students to join the opening event.
Science teachers and engineers communicated and demonstrated instruments to the students and interpreted the mysteries of different technologies on-site.
Through interactive experiences, children are able to learn about the history of optics and various applications of the optical technology.
For example, children can use detection devices for eyes and dental care, and it will encourage them to protect their eyes and teeth. They can also see cells via an optical microscope and try the three-dimensional imaging modeling equipment.
Gu Jincheng, a science teacher at the capital's Xitun Central Primary School, said the exhibition is very meaningful and particularly relevant to the content about light in the science textbook of the fifth-grade. Children can learn that light is closely related to their lives after such immersive experience.
The exhibition is co-organized by the China Association of Children's Science Instructors and Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions. It will tour around other Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Wuxi in Jiangsu province and Dongguan in Guangdong province.
It is part of the public welfare tour campaign for youth science education in China, initiated by the German optics company. The corporation has worked with other science and technology companies to establish a youth science education platform, aiming to broaden the vision of young Chinese people.
