The classic Chinese dance drama Flower Rains Along Silk Road, which includes a spectacular set of folk dances, amazed the audience at Broadway Macao on Monday night.
First performed on stage in 1979, the drama tells the story of a painting master surnamed Zhang and his daughter, and how they made friends with a businessman from Persia (Iran), as well as the ups and downs they experienced.
What's special about the drama is that the dances are adapted from more than 100 Dunhuang Grotto murals of Gansu province, allowing the audience to travel through time to see the lively history and culture of the ancient Silk Road.
The drama has been performed about 3,800 times in some 40 countries and regions, including France, Italy, Japan and the United States. Monday's performance was the second since the drama' debut in Macao in 2005.
