The Ministry of Public Security pledged on Wednesday to intensify its crackdown on violations of intellectual property to protect the public and enterprises' rights and serve the country's high-quality development.
According to the ministry, police resolved 27,000 cases of IPR infringement and production and sale of counterfeit and shoddy goods, effectively curbing the frequency of such crimes.
Public security departments have intensified risk prevention and control, focusing on key areas such as food and medicine during the handling of such cases.
In one case highlighted by the ministry from August 2022, police in Beijing resolved a case revolving around the production and sale of counterfeit products from Universal Beijing Resort.
They detained 21 suspects after following clues online, shut down two counterfeit factories and busted five gangs selling fake products through the internet.
The police seized 46,000 pieces of fake Harry Potter "magic robes", scarves, shirts and other items, and 77,000 pieces of fake trademark logos, protecting the rights and interests of foreign-invested enterprises in China.
