Auto parts supplier ZF Group is showcasing its latest innovations for electric, software-defined and automated vehicles at the ongoing Shanghai auto show, demonstrating its commitment to shaping the transformation of the next generation of mobility.
Its exhibits include a new-generation 800-voltage e-drive system, a smart chassis system that features in Lotus' Eletre SUV, and a 4D imaging radar, which is used in SAIC's Rising Auto marque.
At the auto show, ZF announced that it will provide a coDrive Level 2 plus level driving assistance system, which includes advanced features such as multilane changing and memory parking assistance, for an upcoming electric vehicle made by a Chinese automaker. This vehicle will be launched in both the Chinese and European markets later this year.
Holger Klein, CEO of ZF Group, said that the company is investing heavily in the fast-growing Chinese market. "China has become a global center of innovation and we have a long-term commitment to the Chinese market. Together with our customers, we will grow and innovate new mobility technologies," he said.
Stephan von Schuckmann, the newly-appointed head of ZF Asia-Pacific region, announced that sales in that region accounted for about 25 percent of ZF's global sales in 2022, with the majority from China. It plans to increase this share to 30 percent by 2030.
Renee Wang, president of ZF China, said that the company has invested heavily in new research and development centers and production facilities in China, in order to be close to and grow with Chinese automakers and new players in the mobility market.
In 2022, ZF launched a series of new production and R&D projects in several Chinese cities. The company plans to open the ZF Guangzhou Technology Center in the second quarter. Also, its Guangzhou Electronics Factory is set to break ground.
