A white police officer who shot and killed a black woman in Kentucky has been rehired in another part of the state, sparking local protests. The officer, Myles Cosgrove, was on a narcotics raid in March 2020 when officers fired dozens of shots at the homeowners, Taylor and her boyfriend, who they thought was trespassing, in self-defense. Cosgrove fired 16 rounds before Taylor was fatally shot.
Cosgrove was fired from Louisville Metro Police Department in January 2021, but he got a new job in Carroll County on April 22. The controversial hiring drew protesters to the streets, people chanting "Cosgrove has got to go."
