PLA completes evacuation mission

The Chinese navy evacuated 940 Chinese citizens and 231 foreign nationals from conflict-torn Sudan from Wednesday to Saturday, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
Those people were transferred from Port Sudan to the port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, by CNS Nanning and CNS Weishan Lake, with the assistance of Chinese embassies and consulates in relevant countries, Tan Kefei, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, said in a statement on Saturday night.
"In order to protect the lives and property of Chinese citizens in Sudan, the Chinese military has been ordered to evacuate Chinese personnel in Sudan," he said.
"The Chinese military will always be the guardian of the people and a staunch force in safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests and serving the building of a community with a shared future for mankind," the spokesman added.
