Thirty young people have been awarded China Youth May Fourth Medals for their outstanding efforts at work and in academic research, and for setting an example for the younger generation.

The 30 honorees come from a variety of sectors including education, technology and express delivery.

According to a news release from the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee, the medalists are outstanding youth who combine their personal values and dreams with patriotism and national development targets in technology, rural vitalization and grassroots service.

In addition, 19 youth groups were awarded a collective honor for their work as role models in sectors such as the oil industry and archaeology.

The China Youth May Fourth Medal is awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation, and is recognized as the highest national honor for young people aged between 14 and 40 years old.

The Communist Youth League of China had over 73.5 million members as of the end of December last year, according to the CYLC Central Committee.

Around 40 million students and 6.5 million company staff are also members of the CYLC's over 4 million organizations nationwide.
