Pazhou Ferry Terminal in Guangzhou's Haizhu district officially launched its services on Thursday to accelerate the connectivity of major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guangzhou Customs announced on Friday.

Located in Guangzhou's busy Haizhu district, the Pazhou Ferry Terminal on the Pearl River is the only cross-border water passenger transport port in the downtown area of Guangzhou. Its operation will help boost the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system in the GBA.

Located on the southern bank of the Pearl River, Haizhu district, where the China Import and Export Fair complex is located, has become one of the major convention and exhibition centers in the country.

In addition to the direct ferry route to Hong Kong's downtown area, the Pazhou terminal has also opened a ferry to Hong Kong's international airport.

The terminal plans to launch ferry services in coming months to Macao, which is located at the western part of the Pearl River's mouth, in the following months.

It will provide passengers in the GBA with a three-pronged transportation model that quickly connects Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao with the world, and it will accelerate the interconnection and deep integration development of world-class city clusters and airport clusters in the southern Chinese region.

The terminal began trial operations on April 14 and offered visas on arrival to the business representatives attending the 133rd China Import and Export Fair, which ended on Friday.
