American postal carriers face soaring robberies

Robberies of postal carriers in the United States increased significantly in 2022, with nearly 500 incidents recorded, a 78 percent jump from 2021, according to data released by the US Postal Inspection Service.

In most of the cases, attackers used guns or other weapons, killing at least one postal carrier and injuring 31 others. Some reports said some thieves are targeting the special keys that carriers use to access collection boxes and to deliver mail in apartment buildings.
