Over 1 in 6 US adults depressed — highest rate in nearly a decade

About 18 percent of adults are depressed or being treated for depression, an increase of about 7 percentage from 2015, according to a Gallup poll released on Wednesday; and nearly 30 percent of adults have been diagnosed with depression at some point in their lives, which is nearly 10 percentage higher than in 2015. Both numbers are a record high.
