Alex Tsai, a former Kuomintang "legislator", said in an interview that in his opinion, the most important reason behind the United States' crackdown on Chinese electronics giant Huawei is that the US is unable to tap into Huawei's operating system.
He said the US can easily eavesdrop on the operating systems of Ericsson and Nokia, as it had tapped on former German chancellor Angela Merkel's Nokia phone.
In the US' eyes, "national security" means it can tap on everyone else. As it is unable to tap Huawei's operating system, the company thus becomes a threat to US "national security", he added.
