Achievers in aesthetic education, especially those from the frontline, will be granted a chance to be honored as the Third M Prize officially launched on Sunday.
This year's recipients of the Huamao Aesthetic Education Prize could be awarded 1 million Yuan, a gold medal and an honorary certificate. Multiple recipients or groups qualify for a chance to win, which sets it apart from the previous two years where there was only one or two winners.
George Papandreou, the chairman of the M Prize assessment committee, emphasized the core value of aesthetic education. He said that aesthetic education helps individuals understand themselves and the world through sensory interactions with others and nature.
Despite its significant importance, aesthetic education has often been marginalized or overlooked within educational systems, resulting in its limited presence in critical areas. He believes that the M Prize will be a transformative accolade with profound implications for the global education system.
Long Yongtu, another chairman of the M Prize assessment committee, agreed with Papandreou and said aesthetic education is also crucial in nurturing future talent or well-rounded individuals in China.
This year's selection will expand its scope and increase the number of awards in an aim to honor some more long-standing dedication to aesthetic education. It will conclude on Aug 31 and instructions on how to apply are available on its official website, WeChat and via e-mail.
