A series of books covering the past decade's development of Shenzhen, the first special economic zone and tech hub of China, was launched in Beijing on June 20, followed by a session gathering experts and scholars to discuss the city's modernization.

The series introduces Shenzhen's experience and development between 2012 to 2022 from various angles, such as reform, innovation, law and the building of an ecosystem. It explores how the city practiced the Chinese-style modernization in the past decade. It was published by China Social Sciences Press recently in Beijing.

"The series of books uses the vivid examples and achievements of Shenzhen to prove that China has walked in the right direction," said Zhao Jianying, president of the China Social Sciences Press, at a session held at China Academy of Social Sciences in June.

Zhang Ling, director of the publicity department of Shenzhen, said that the books offered a panoramic view of Shenzhen's development in the past 10 years. It allows readers to better learn about Shenzhen and thus understand China's development because Shenzhen is leading the reform trend in China.

From a small fishing village to a developed costal city in Southern China, Shenzhen has reached great achievement since China's reform and opening up to the world in 1978. The city is now a pilot city to practice many innovative policies and gains a growing influence on the international stage.
