Police in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, have formed an investigation team to look into a rape accusation against a local policeman, according to a notice from the city's police bureau on Thursday.
On Tuesday, a netizen posted on social media that she was raped by a policeman surnamed Wang in January of last year, and that she had reported the case to local police at that time.
But after hours of questioning and investigation, local police told her that it could not be classified as a rape case due to the evidence, according to the post. Local police tried to mediate the case and said she could get financial compensation.
However, more than one year has passed and the local policeman Wang has not been punished for the crime, according to the post.
According to the Thursday notice, local police are still investigating the case and the result will be released to public promptly.
