The National Development and Reform Commission held at least two symposiums with entrepreneurs of private companies from across the country over the past week to better understand the difficulties they face in the operation of their business, and solicit their suggestions on how to resolve the problems.
The NDRC also launched a mechanism to regularly hold such symposia with private businesspeople, which will be helpful, as it can provide policymakers with more objective references and enable them to directly know about the actual circumstances of the private enterprises.
This move is conducive to boosting the confidence of private enterprises and stabilizing the expectations of entrepreneurs.
Private enterprises accounted for about 92.4 percent of the overall number of enterprises in the country by the end of April, compared with 79.4 percent by the end of 2012. They are the major creators of jobs, payers of taxes and makers of innovations, and thus play an important role in stabilizing the economy and boosting domestic demand.
Governments at various levels should pay special attention to their practical needs, and try and create a better institutional and policy environment for the sustainable development of private enterprises, stimulating the perseverance and innovative spirit of entrepreneurship.
The authorities should continuously optimize the environment for the development of private enterprises, protect the property rights of private enterprises and the legal rights and interests of entrepreneurs in accordance with the law, and promote the development and growth of the private economy in the long run. Doing that is not to drive the economic recovery now but to boost the high-quality development of the country in the long run.
It is good to see that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Commerce also held similar meetings with the owners of private companies recently, and they also proposed to normalize communication mechanisms saying the meetings can help make their policies better targeted, more flexible and relevant to meet the enterprises' practical needs.
