"Grandma Cao, how are you feeling today? I've come to bring you some medicine."

Li Facong, a village doctor from Leyuan village in Changyang Tujia autonomous county of Hubei province, had arrived in Cao's home to check on the 83-year-old, who lives alone.

Li helped Cao measure her blood pressure and blood sugar while inquiring about her condition in detail.

Cao, who suffers from many diseases including diabetes and hypertension, has difficulty walking.

Li had asked her to take an antipyretic and reminded her of her medication when he found Cao had developed a fever during a previous home visit.

As the first village doctor to have received medical professional education, delivering medical services to residents in the rural mountainous areas is Li's daily routine.

After having practiced medicine for more than three decades, Li, 53, is now familiar with the health status of more than 2,000 villagers from 800 households.
