Precautions taken as Typhoon Khanun approaches East China Sea

Typhoon Khanun, the sixth of this year, is expected to gradually gain strength and enter the East China Sea on Wednesday night, said the Central Meteorological Observatory on Monday.
According to its forecast, the typhoon is moving northwestward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour and may swirl into the East China Sea Wednesday night. After that, it is expected to move northward further, with its speed significantly slowing.
As of 5 am Monday, it is situated at around 680 km to the southeast of Naha, Japan on the northwestern Pacific Ocean, with its maximum speed reaching 40 meters per second.
Authorities in Zhejiang province are closely monitoring the typhoon's path and updating the public with necessary information and safety alerts.
The Zhejiang provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters upgraded the typhoon emergency response to Level IV at 6 pm Sunday.
In coastal Ningbo, a total of 24 engineering and construction projects were halted on Sunday with 429 construction vessels adopting safety measures to protect themselves from the possible typhoon.
