Pokemon Party, a new single and music video, has recently been released by Capitol Records China, a front line label of Universal Music Group China. Featuring pop singer Zhang Yixing, the new song brings to life the characters from Pokemon, the globally-loved entertainment franchise.
It marks a new step in the brand's venture into localized creativity in China. Through the fusion of Pokemon and Chinese artistic talent, the collaboration is designed to appeal to Pokemon's Chinese fan base.
Zhang, who has released nine albums and Eps and has over 13 million sales, is ranked as 6th on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list, and was the first Chinese artist to break into the Top Five on the iTunes World Album Chart, as well as make it into the Top 25 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
In 2021, the 25th anniversary of Pokemon was celebrated with a yearlong music project by Universal Music Group. It included collaborations with international pop stars like Post Malone, Katy Perry, and J Balvin, culminating in the highly successful release, Pokemon 25: The Album.
