Two tourists were banned from visiting the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for their life time after they fed pandas without permission, according to a notice released on its official WeChat account on Sunday.
A man surnamed Han, 39, threw bamboo shoots to baby giant pandas while visiting the base on Saturday. Another woman surnamed Liang, 51, tried to feed peanuts to pandas on the same day. The base's workers stopped them and promptly cleared the debris from the outdoor activity area.
As their behaviors posed a threat to the giant pandas, they were permanently banned from visiting the panda base again.
The base said it will monitor physical conditions of each panda and ensure their health and safety. It also asked tourists not to throw items, talk loudly, tap on the glass, use camera flash light or smoke at the base as it may scare pandas or damage their health.
