The 2023 Cybersecurity Week will be held across the country from Sept 11 to 17, China's top internet regulator announced on Thursday.

Themed "Cybersecurity for the People and by the People", this year's Cybersecurity Week will be jointly organized by more than 10 government departments, including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education and the People's Bank of China.

The opening ceremony for the event, a summit, and multiple major activities, will be held in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, according to a CAC statement.

In addition to government officials, guests from academies, colleges, social organizations and enterprises will also attend the opening ceremony in Fuzhou on the morning of Sept 11, it said.

A summit as well as the main Cybersecurity Week forum will be held in the afternoon of that day. Attendees will be invited to share ideas and provide suggestions on the development and governance of artificial intelligence, the statement said.

Between Sept 12 and 17, a total of 14 sub forums, such as those on cloud computing, automotive data security and juvenile protection in cyberspace, will also be held in Fuzhou, it said.

Visitors to the event can learn about China's efforts in cybersecurity talent education and the application of new security technologies and services in work and everyday life.

The weeklong activity, launched in 2014, is an annual event that enhances national awareness of cybersecurity and helps the public protect themselves by sharing information on the latest security technologies and online security risks.

On Monday, the China Internet Network Information Center issued a report showing that the country had almost 1.08 billion netizens as of June, 11.09 million more than the amount at the end of last year.
