Shang Liguang, deputy Secretary of the Communist Party of China's Shanxi Provincial Committee, is suspected of seriously violating Party discipline and laws and is currently under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation, said the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, China's top anti-graft watchdogs, on Tuesday.

Shang, a native of Hebei province, began working in 1981 and joined the Party in 1984.

The 59-year-old worked in Hebei from 1981 to June 2017. Over the course of his career, he served as mayor of Qinhuangdao and Party chief of Cangzhou in the province.

In June 2017, he was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee, as well as the head of the committee's Commission for Political and Legal Affairs.

He became the deputy secretary of CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee in October 2021.
