XINING -- The total installed clean energy capacity in Northwest China's Qinghai province has surpassed 42.7 million kilowatts, according to the State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Co Ltd.

The province's installed clean energy capacity now accounts for 91.6 percent of its total installed capacity, the company said.

Qinghai's installed new energy capacity is now 30.13 million kilowatts.

Between January and July this year, Qinghai's generation of non-hydropower new energy surpassed its generation of hydropower for the first time to become the largest power source in the province.

Located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Qinghai is home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, and is known for its rich water, solar and wind power resources.
