SHANGHAI -- The Yangtze River Delta region handled over 20,000 trips made by China-Europe freight trains over the past decade, the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. said on Saturday.

In the past 10 years, the trains have carried over 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods, injecting new impetus to the region's high-quality economic development and ensuring the stability of international industrial and supply chains, said the company.

Goods carried by China-Europe freight trains passing through the region include photovoltaic modules, auto parts, home appliances and medical instruments, as well as foods and textile products.

In the first eight months of the year, 2,927 train trips have been made in the region, it said.

Some 314,000 TEUs of goods have been transported during the period, up by 12.5 percent year on year.
