Nearly $4 billion in losses as autoworkers' strike persists

China Daily Global | Updated: 2023-10-04 10:27

The ongoing strike by American autoworkers, now exceeding two weeks, has seen approximately 25,000 participants and is estimated to have caused significant financial losses. A report by the consulting firm Anderson Economic Group reveals that the automotive industry's supply chain has suffered due to the strike. This has resulted in reduced production by car manufacturers. Upstream workers in the supply chain have joined the strike, leading to layoffs among downstream workers. Suppliers, dealerships and consumers are all facing additional costs, contributing to an estimated total loss of around $4 billion.
