Harvard students face backlash after anti-Israel letter

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2023-10-20 10:00

On the day the Israeli-Palestinian conflict erupted again, 34 student groups from Harvard University jointly published an open anonymous letter accusing Israel of decades-long illegal occupation of Palestinian land and alleging that it was "entirely responsible"  for all violent events. The letter quickly drew criticism, with student organization members labeled as antisemitic. Personal information of the student group members was "doxxed", or made publicly known, and their families received threats.

In addition, Wall Street tycoons and industry leaders said they would never hire students involved. One student said "people's lives being ruined, people's careers being ruined, people's fellowships being ruined".
