Ling Chengxing, former head of China's State Tobacco Monopoly Administration or known as China Tobacco, is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement that they are investigating Ling, 66, on suspicion of severely violating Party disciplines and the nation's laws.

Ling, from Jiangxi province, joined the Party in 1977 and began working in 1980. He worked in Jiangxi for many years and served in different roles, including as executive vice-governor of the province.

He was the head of China Tobacco from May 2013 to July 2018.

China Tobacco is on the list for the 20th CPC Central Committee's second round of inspection, which started on Oct 10, and the eighth inspection team of this round has recently begun its work at the administration.
