A 2-year-girl who was bitten by a dog last month in Chongzhou, Sichuan province, was discharged from West China Hospital of Sichuan University on Monday, China Central Television reported on Tuesday.

Her liver and kidney functions were normal, and she is recovering smoothly, the hospital said, adding that the wounds are healing well but regular follow-up examinations will be needed.

The incident occurred on the morning of Oct 16, when the girl and her mother came across two dogs in their neighborhood. One of the dogs attacked, damaging one of the girl's kidneys and fracturing a rib, according to earlier reports.

During the girl's treatment, the hospital received a total of 220,000 yuan ($30,164) in compensation, mainly from the dog owner and the community management company. More than 80,000 yuan has been used.
