Chinese display panel maker TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co Ltd is upbeat about the prospects of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) panels next year, and will strengthen cooperation with global partners to bolster industrial upgrade.

Zhao Jun, senior vice-president of TCL Technology and CEO of TCL CSOT, said OLED panels are increasingly being used in medium- and high-end smartphones, tablets, laptops and vehicle-mounted devices, and he is bullish on the huge growth potential from the esports display segment.

Zhao said the company's inkjet-printed OLED panels, which feature high brightness, fast response time, wide viewing angle and low power consumption, and are deemed as the development direction for next-generation display technology, are expected to achieve mass production in the second half of next year.

He noted such OLED panels will be firstly applied in middle-sized display products covering the healthcare and information technology industries.

Yan Xiaolin, CTO of TCL Technology and TCL CSOT, said the company will focus on the development and commercial application of liquid crystal display or LCD, OLED, quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLED) and micro/mini LED, and make breakthroughs in emerging display technologies.

TCL CSOT has recently displayed its world's first 65-inch 8K inkjet-printed OLED screen, 14-inch OLED laptop screen, a 150-inch mini LED commercial display screen, TVs, esports screens and virtual reality equipment during its global display tech ecosystem conference.
