China Railway Construction Corporation recently completed the construction of a road bridge linking a main road and a major freeway in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, earning praise from the country's prime minister.

The bridge links the main road in the western part of Port of Spain and the Diego Martin Highway.

The Caribbean country's prime minister, Keith Rowley, attended the bridge's completion ceremony on Friday. He said it was an important part of Trinidad and Tobago's road transportation planning and a long-awaited infrastructure project for the people of the Diego Martin region.

Rowley spoke highly of the quality of the project and also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese workers who built it.

CRCC said the project's main bridge used a technology called the post-tensioning method for prefabricated small box girders, which was its first application in the Caribbean region. The main components of the project included the main bridge spanning the Diego Martin Highway, two roundabouts, two connecting roads, four ramps and two subsidiary roads.

The project will play a significant role in improving the road network in the region and relieving traffic pressure.
