Two construction projects in the Xizang autonomous region have been awarded the 2022-2023 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize, according to a statement released on the China Construction Industry Association website.
The statement reveals that 246 projects, including the station buildings and related engineering projects of the Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway, as well as the expansion projects of the new terminal building at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport, have been recognized and included in the list of awardees in Xizang.
The China Construction Engineering Luban Prize is the nation's most prestigious award for construction and engineering quality, and is commonly known as the Luban Award. The highly esteemed award is administered by the China Construction Industry Association under the guidance of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
In accordance with the evaluation criteria outlined in the Luban Award's evaluation method, it has been decided that the Luban golden statue, medal and certificate will be presented to the contracting units responsible for the award-winning projects. Additionally, participating units will receive medals and certificates, while project managers of the contracting units will also be issued certificates.
The new terminal building of the Lhasa Gonggar Airport, with an area of 88,000 square meters and a height of approximately 44 meters, has received numerous prestigious engineering quality awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. These include the outstanding prize of the Golden Steel Award, the highest award for architecture in Shanghai, the China Steel Structure Gold Award, the China Installation Engineering Quality Award, the China Construction Engineering Decoration Award, and the quality engineering award from Xizang, reported Xizang Daily.
The station buildings and related engineering projects of the Lhasa-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway, covering a combined area of 41,775 sq m, include canopies, overpasses, tunnels and station platforms. The project holds significant importance as it is a key undertaking in the first phase of the Sichuan-Xizang Railway and serves as a prominent landmark project for the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway.
Zhang Yajun, Party secretary of the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway station building project of the China Railway Construction Engineering Group, expressed his pride at receiving such an honor.
During the construction, the project department established clear quality objectives to meet the standards of the Luban Award. Comprehensive planning, consolidated responsibilities, a robust quality management system, emphasis on technology, implementation of smart construction practices, adoption of green construction methods and a commitment to creating a high-quality station building project on the plateau were prioritized, said Zhang.
Duan Xuchun, Party secretary of the region's construction industry association, was quoted by Xizang Daily as saying, "Being awarded the Luban Award, the most prestigious accolade for engineering quality in the Chinese construction industry, not only acknowledges the accomplishments in enterprise brand establishment but also acknowledges the craftsmanship and capabilities of the enterprise."
