United States carmaker Tesla will recall more than 1.61 million vehicles in China due to problems with steering software, the company will fix the cars for users, the State Administration for Market Regulation said on Friday.
The recall is due to problems with the automatic steering assist function applied to imported Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, it said.
The market regulator also said Tesla's Beijing and Shanghai branches would use remote upgrading technology to fix the problems, so in most cases car owners would not need to visit their service centers to get the upgrades.
Last month, Tesla also recalled more than 2 million EVs in the US to improve its system for monitoring drivers.
