CHICAGO - The man suspected of killing eight people at three locations in a city in the US state of Illinois shot and killed himself after a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials, reported AP news agency quoting the police.
The victims of the killing were found dead in Joliet, about 56 km southwest of Chicago on Monday afternoon.
The suspect, who is believed to know and related to the victims, was hunted by police and identified as a 23-year-old man called Romeo Nance driving a red Toyota Camry with an Illinois license plate, Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said at a news conference.
The suspect had been arrested before for aggravated discharge of a weapon involving a woman in 2023, local media reported. The arrest records show that Nance's listed home address is near the houses where the victims were found.
Nance was out on bond in connection with the 2023 shooting case and is still awaiting trial, court records indicate.
