Gu Bo pleads guilty to accepting over 354m yuan in bribes

Gu Bo, former deputy manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co Ltd, was charged with taking bribes over 354 million yuan ($50 milion), and pleaded guilty in a public trial held by the Ji'an Intermediate People's Court, Jiangxi province, on Thursday.
Prosecutors accused him of taking advantage of his positions from 1999 to 2018, including manager of Yunnan tobacco materials group and deputy manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co Ltd, to provide assistance to others in the business undertakings of cigarette materials, supplier qualification recognition, fund settlement and bidding agency services.
Then Gu accepted shares and money from these people and allowed his son to accept others' money, totaling 354 million yuan - $15,000 and HK$ 50,000.
Gu was placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation in January 2023.
Last year, two former managers of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial — Zhang Shuichang and Zhu Shaoming, and a former deputy manager of the company, Wu Yi, were objected to investigation.
