Du Zhaocai, former deputy head of the General Administration of Sport of China, has been prosecuted on suspicion of bribery, China's top anti-corruption bodies announced on Friday.
The announcement was disclosed in an official statement by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision online.
The commissions added that the indictment has been recently initiated by prosecutors in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, to the Wuhan Intermediate People's Court.
In the indictment, the city's prosecutors revealed that Du took advantage of his various work positions in the sport system to help others seek profits and then received large sums of money or assets in return.
Du should be held criminally liable for the crime of bribery, the prosecutors said.
Du, 63, was put under investigation and disciplinary review for suspected serious violations of law and discipline in April last year.
About six months later, he was expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public office over the serious violations.
