In recent years, a trend has emerged: Popular series could stimulate tourism in the cities where they are filmed. Examples of this include Blossoms Shanghai, which has provoked a frenzy of visitors to landmarks in Shanghai, and the romance series Meet Yourself, which once lured tourists flocking to Dali in Yunnan province.
Encouraged by this trend and aiming to boost local tourism, the miniseries Hello, Mr. Ouyang Xiu recently concluded filming in Enjiang Ancient City of Yongfeng county in Jiangxi province and is scheduled to be released online during the Spring Festival holiday.
Containing a total of 100 episodes, with each lasting less than two minutes, the series revolves around the titular character, Ouyang, a renowned poet and historian during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Earlier this year, the National Radio and Television Administration, the country's top sector regulator, announced to launch a nationwide project aimed at creating a total of 100 miniseries and boosting local tourism in their filming locations.
Producer Wu Jing said they have been encouraged by the announcement and hope Hello, Mr. Ouyang Xiu will draw more tourists to Enjiang.
