Judge Dee’s Mystery set to reach global audiences

On Monday, livestreaming platform Youku released a trailer of the English version of its new play Judge Dee's Mystery, which is adapted from the books by Dutch Sinologist Robert Hans van Gulik.
Set in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the drama features the famous statesman and county magistrate of the Tang court Di Renjie. While solving various criminal cases in different places where he worked at the first stage of his career, Di also gradually found out the mystery about his own birth.
Youku has confirmed that Netflix has purchased the right to show the TV drama on its platforms. Together with the international platforms of Youku, the play will reach audiences in more than 190 countries and regions around the world.

Judge Dee's Mystery is another Chinese ancient mystery play broadcast overseas after The Longest Day in Chang’an, and the second play produced by Youku streamed on Netflix.
The drama will be launched on both domestic and international platforms of Youku. The international platforms of Youku will offer overseas audiences subtitles in more than 10 languages, including English, Thai and Portuguese.
