Authorities are beefing up efforts to transport migrant workers to their jobs and provide new employment opportunities to propel the resumption of work as the Spring Festival holiday concludes in China, People's Daily reported.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and eight other government departments jointly launched a special campaign with a string of online and offline activities from Jan 25 to April 8, with the aim of providing some 30 million job opportunities.

As of Feb 17, a total of 18,000 online and offline recruitment events have been organized and 10 million job openings were offered across the country, according to the ministry.

In addition to employment, the ministry also helped with the transportation of 100,000 workers through 3,000 chartered trains, planes and buses during the same period.

"This is my first time taking the free dedicated worker train. It's very convenient to register through my village's WeChat group," said Liu Zhidan, a worker with a 4-year-old son traveling from Guizhou to Guangdong province on a train on Feb 18.

Xia Yibing, director of the Guangdong administration of employment services, said that the train brought 640 workers from Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in Guizhou to work in Guangdong.

The province will arrange 18 special trains for migrant workers after the Spring Festival for them to return to work, Xia said.

This will contribute to the stable production and operation of enterprises in the manufacturing sector, boosting a "smooth opening", according to Xia.
