A dam at a river in Maduo county, Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Golog in Northwest China's Qinghai province, has been damaged by flooding recently, but there were no casualties due to the incident, local authorities said on Saturday.
There have been reports online that the dam damage and flood have led to the deaths of dozens of people and the missing of thousands of people since Friday. Local authorities dismissed them as rumors.
The incident, which happened on Feb 18, has caused property damage to eight people and the deaths of 195 livestock, as well as damage to roads and water conservancy facilities, the authorities said, stressing that no one died from it.
The dam was repaired on Feb 21.
