Water service returning in Hohhot after pipe burst

Water service will gradually resume starting on Monday afternoon after a large-scale outage occurred on Friday in urban Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, China Central Television reported on Monday.

The outage — resulting from a burst intake pipe at the Jinhe water treatment plant — occurred at around 6 pm on Friday and affected 35 large residential areas and some older communities in the city.

After the emergency repair was made, restoration of the water injection system at the plant began early on Monday.

According to the plant, the water outage was caused by a sudden burst of the supply pipeline due to fluctuations in the power grid, resulting in reduced production.

Some areas in the urban area experienced a decrease in water pressure.

During the outage, the company prepared emergency water supply vehicles, and residents could contact property management companies and community workers to arrange for water delivery.
