Tianqiao Performing Arts Center recently announced its yearlong plan, featuring over 1,000 shows, including musicals, plays, dance dramas and magic shows, many of which will be presented in new venues.
Ten international musicals, including Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, French musical Don Juan and original Chinese musical The Longest Day in Chang'an, will be staged.
Over 60 plays from home and abroad will be performed. Highlights include West End's production of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, Berliner Ensemble's Brecht's Ghosts and Stan Lai's The Village.
British choreographer Matthew Bourne's Romeo and Juliet, a passionate and contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare's classic love story, will debut in Beijing. The contemporary dance production Nine Songs by Chinese dancer Hu Yang will premiere in June.
Magic shows and theater productions for children will be presented at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center's new spaces.
