Fatalities and injuries as severe thunderstorms hit Nanchang, Jiangxi

Four people have died, and more than 10 others were injured when severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall struck Nanchang, East China's Jiangxi province, in the early Sunday morning, China Central Television said on Monday.
Strong winds, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall struck Nanchang around 3 am on Sunday. Video footage circulating online showed windows shattered at a resident's home, with glass shards scattered all over the ground.
According to local media outlets, during the extreme weather event, three individuals fell to their deaths in a residential area on Bayuehu Road in Nanchang county.
The disaster reduction division of Jiangxi Meteorological Service confirmed that a severe rainstorm swept Nanchang early Sunday morning. However, the cause of the fatal incidents in Nanchang county has yet to be determined, and an investigation by the local public security department is still underway.
On Monday afternoon, the disaster reduction office of Nanchang sent a mobile phone message to residents, warning that another severe convective weather process is expected in the city from Monday to Sunday. Residents are advised to pay attention to meteorological disaster forecast information and take appropriate safety precautions.
