China will conduct the anti-dumping investigation into European Union-produced cognac transparently and openly in accordance with its laws and the World Trade Organization rules, fully ensuring the rights of all stakeholders, said the country's top commerce official in Paris.
During his meeting in the French capital on Monday with representatives from French cognac companies and industry associations, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said that China's anti-dumping investigation into EU cognac was initiated at the request of the domestic industry and is not targeted at any specific EU countries. The investigation will not presuppose any conclusions, according to an online statement released by the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.
As this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France, Wang said that the prospects for bilateral economic and trade cooperation are wide-ranging. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the French business community to promote the stable growth of China-France economic and trade relations.
At the meeting, French business leaders expressed their willingness to actively cooperate with the Chinese investigation procedures and continue to deeply cultivate the Chinese market.
