An ocean of art

The ocean is a major channel for the transportation of people and commodities, but, sadly, it has also become a "dustbin" of human waste and a "theater" for climate change to reveal its consequences. Works of more than 20 artists from around the world are currently on display at Returning to the Sea, an exhibition curated by Zhu Yujie that reflects on the relationship between people and the ocean, how it has shaped human society — and the natural world — and its future, based on the current environmental situation.

The exhibition is hosted by the TAG Art Museum and will run until June 10.

Adopting different approaches, featured artists at the exhibition reinforce that the ocean, as a living body, "can be understood, given voice, addressed and transcended beyond human centrism", Zhu says, and is "a vast world teeming with life, stories and wisdom".

9:30 am-5 pm, closed on Mondays.1111 Yinshatan Lu, Xihai'an Xinqu (West Coast New Area), Qingdao, Shandong province. 0532-8667-1111.
