Dozens of ordinary-speed trains between Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, and Beijing were suspended on Monday due to continuous heavy rainfall, according to the local railway authorities.

Specifically, 62 trains along the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and 18 trains along the Beijing-Kowloon Railway would be suspended until Wednesday, the China Railway Guangzhou Group said on Monday afternoon.

A large range of heavy rainfall to rainstorms is expected in most of Hunan province and the northern and central areas of Guangdong in the coming days, bringing a certain adverse impact on the railway transportation order, the authorities said.

Heavy rainfall has continuously assaulted Guangdong and Hunan since April, with rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs along the railway lines increasingly overflowing and soil moisture becoming increasingly saturated.
