As of 2 pm Thursday, 30 individuals were undergoing treatment in the hospital, with no life-threatening conditions reported, after a road collapse in South China's Guangdong province, local authorities said at a briefing on Thursday afternoon.

Local health authorities said 29 injured individuals were in stable condition, while one individual remained in critical condition but with stable vital signs.

Wang Hui, mayor of Meizhou, said that a contingent of 577 personnel from emergency services, public security, fire departments and health agencies were sent for on-site rescue operations.

A fleet of 64 vehicles was deployed to comb through the accident site, with no discovery of large hazardous or passenger vehicles, Wang said.

A team comprising 12 provincial-level experts, 20 municipal-level experts, 30 ambulances and over 200 medical professionals was assembled to attend to the injured, he said.

Local authorities have organized personalized assistance for the affected individuals, he added.
