The Yinchuan Art Theater Acrobatic Troupe from Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region is gaining wide attention from international audiences for its exceptional skills and unique charm of traditional culture.
The acrobatic troupe recently won the "Young Star Award", the only special award at the 15th YOUNG STAGE International Circus Festival in Switzerland, for its original "Kicking Bowls on High Unicycle" show.
The prestigious annual event brings together talented circus performers from around the world to showcase their skills and creativity. A total of 634 performers from 53 countries participated in this year's competition, with 13 programs making it to the finals.
As the only team from Asia to qualify for the finals, the acrobatic troupe performed a total of six times during the festival, including four performances and two competitions, according to the Yinchuan Art Theater.
The "Kicking Bowls on High Unicycle" show performed at the final competition, called "Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix," featured Chinese drum music and costumes designed in the image of the phoenix, injecting new vitality into this traditional program.
The unicycles used in the performances were up to 2.5 meters high, posing a great challenge to the performers, said the Yinchuan Art Theater.
In addition, the performers and choreographers innovatively arranged the formation changes to create smooth and uninterrupted transitions during the performance. The ingenious design not only enhanced the viewing experience, but also demonstrated the team's outstanding ability to cooperate and work together.
