At least 14 officials who worked for China's sports system have been investigated for suspected corruption crimes last year, indicating the urgency and importance to intensify the anti-graft fight in this field, a report said on Monday.
The Annual Report on Rule of Law in China, which was issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Institute of Law, showed that the combat against corruption was mainly launched among State-owned enterprises, as well as in the sports, finance medical and food industries in 2023.
While tightening the supervision in the sports area, the report said that over 100 officials engaged in the country's financial sector, including banks, securities and insurance, were placed under disciplinary and supervisory investigation on suspicion of corruption-related crimes last year, noting that the figure in 2022 was about 70.
In addition, nearly 500 people in the medical industry were prosecuted from January to November in 2023, it added.
It also clarifies that China's anti-corruption fight has never been stopped, with harsh punishment against bribe-givers while combating bribe-receivers.
