Former vice-governor of Gansu under investigation

Yang Zixing, former vice-governor of Gansu province, is being investigated for suspected severe violations of Party disciplines and national laws, China’s top anti-corruption watchdogs said on Wednesday.
The investigation has been announced and disclosed by the Communist Party of China Central Committee for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision on their website.
Public information showed that Yang, 64, a native of Gansu, started his career in 1976 and joined the Party in 1984. He worked for his hometown for over three decades, with various posts, such as deputy head of the office with the provincial department for poverty relief and mayor of Dingxi city.
From June 2015 to January 2018, he served as vice-governor of Gansu.
Chinese media reported that he had been given a serious warning, a kind of disciplinary punishment, in 2017 for improperly revising a management regulation on national natural reserve involving the Qilian Mountains, resulting in some content in the local document severely contradicting national laws.
His punishment was also for failing to supervise and urge local entities to rectify illegal development practices that had damaged the environment.
